MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN MASYARAKAT TENTANG PERLINDUNGAN SAKSI DAN KORBAN DALAM PROSES PERADILAN PIDANA

Abstrak

Community Service has been carried out in the Village Office hall in Sungai Bunggur, Kumpeh District, Muaro Jambi Regency on July 16, 2020 with a face-to-face meeting. The purpose of community service is to disseminate information to the public Law Number 31 of 2014 Amendment to Law No. 13 of 2006 concerning Protection of Witnesses and Victims This is done because in the settlement of criminal cases, many witnesses and crime victims are found to lack adequate legal protection, both immaterial and material protection. This raises the classic problem, that criminal justice as the basis for solving criminal cases does not recognize the existence of witnesses and witnesses of crime victims as justice seekers. The victim is only positioned as a witness, as a reporter in the investigation process and as a source of information or as one of the keys to solving the case. Conversely, when witnesses and victims fail to fulfill their obligations as witnesses at trial, they are subject to sanctions.

The results of this activity indicate that the public interest in participating in this activity is quite high, because it can increase understanding regarding legal protection for witnesses and victims.

The method of implementing legal counseling carried out in partnership with the Village Head of Sungai Bunggur, with the method: delivery of material, namely discussion and question and answer.
